Who am I?
My name’s Dan, and I run Dan’s Real English.
I’ve been an English teacher for over twenty years, during which time I have taught English to learners of all levels, ages and backgrounds.
As such, I understand all too well the kinds of problems and pitfalls that students face when trying to develop their English.
I’m also a native speaker of English, and have lived near Oxford in England for most of my life.
My qualifications
I’m a language graduate (BA Turkish) and also hold certificates in CELTA and DELTA English teaching qualifications.
What is Dan’s Real English?
Dan’s Real English is a web resource that I have designed to help you learn real English.
And by “real English”, I’m talking about the kind of English that real English speakers speak – and NOT the English that you learned at school!
The main focus of Dan’s Real English is to help you become more familiar with natural spoken English.
In the blog section of the site you will find a mixture of study tips and free lessons. These are based on typical language problems that real students experience at all ability levels.
You will also find a range of topic-based vocabulary sessions. These are easy-to-follow information packs for higher level (CEFRB1+) students and above. These sheets are designed to help you develop vocabulary in sets to prepare for speaking tests (Like IELTS Speaking) – or for general conversational purposes.
My approach to helping you learn
I believe that learning English should be both fun and useful. That’s why I focus only on everyday language that real English speakers use.
Dan’s Real English gives you examples of conversations, idiomatic expressions, and other features that make spoken English unique. My aim is to equip you with the skills and confidence you’ll need to survive any English-speaking environment with ease.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the site
